Hail Damage Repair for Artesia Roofs

From the yard, hail damage is hard to spot. It shows up on the roof as bruised shingles, cracked tile or dinged flashing. Our inspection is free, we photograph each mark the storm left, and you get a repair date that sticks, plus a call if it has to move.

What Hail Actually Does to a Roof

Hail rarely punches a hole you can see. On asphalt shingles, a hailstone knocks loose the ceramic granules and can fracture the fiberglass mat underneath, leaving a soft spot called a bruise. With the granules gone, sun breaks down the exposed asphalt, and that spot can start leaking months after the storm.

Concrete and clay tile react differently. They crack, chip at the nose or split along the edge, and a broken tile lets water reach the underlayment it was meant to shield. Soft metals take the record of the storm. Dented roof vents, gutters and flashing tell us the size and direction of the hail.

We do hail damage repair across Artesia and nearby towns like Cerritos, Norwalk and Lakewood. If the damage turns out to be wider than one storm, our storm damage repair and roof replacement pages explain those options.

What Our Hail Repair Work Includes

Every slope checked

We cover each slope on foot and chalk-mark every hit so it shows in the photos. Shingles, tile, ridge caps and each roof opening all get looked at.

Metal and surrounding damage

We inspect vents, skylight frames, flashing, gutters and downspouts. Dings in soft metal help show that hail caused the damage.

Written photo report

Every hit gets a dated photo, along with notes on what broke and the probable cause. It's set up so an adjuster can read it without us walking them through it.

Help with your claim

We work directly with your insurance claim. If you'd like, we meet the adjuster on the roof and go over what we found, while your insurer makes the coverage decision.

Shingle and tile replacement

Bruised shingles come out and new ones are nailed correctly and sealed down. Cracked tiles are replaced with matched pieces after we check the underlayment below.

Vent, flashing and gutter repair

We replace dented vents, flattened flashing and damaged gutter sections so water keeps draining the right way.

Clues That Hail Hit Your Roof

  • Grit piling up at downspouts

After a storm, look where the downspouts empty. A thick pile of dark, sand-like grit there means your shingles shed part of their protective coating.

  • Dented vents or downspouts

Round dings in aluminum or galvanized metal are the easiest hail marks to spot from the ground. If the metal is hit, check the roof.

  • Cracked or chipped tiles

Fresh, light-colored breaks on concrete tile, or shards on the ground, point to impact. Old cracks are usually dirty and weathered.

  • Dark spots on shingles

Random dark circles where granules are missing, often soft when pressed, are classic bruises.

  • A new ceiling stain

Water spots that appear weeks after a hailstorm often trace back to a fractured shingle mat or a broken tile. Our roof leak repair page covers how we trace them.

The Steps of a Hail Repair

  1. 1

Your call and a set window

When you phone, we pick an inspection day and give you an arrival window. If the weather or a job before yours changes that, we call ahead of your window.

  2. 2

    Roof check and photos

We record the damage up on the roof and then review the photos with you. A free written repair estimate follows.

  3. 3

    Insurance and material timing

When you file a claim, we plan around the adjuster's visit and approval. Matching tile or a particular shingle color may take a while to arrive, so the date we give you is realistic, not wishful.

  4. 4

    The repair

We cover plants and walkways, swap out the damaged materials and reseal the flashing. Most hail repairs are done in one day.

  5. 5

    Cleanup and review

We roll a magnet across the lawn and driveway for loose nails and take all the old material with us. Then we go through photos of the finished repair with you.

What Sets the Price of a Hail Repair

Cost depends on the number of hits, your roofing material and what turns up beneath the broken pieces. Every item is listed on the written estimate, so you can line it up against your insurance scope. Financing is available through Service Finance Company, subject to credit approval.

How widespread the hits are
Some bruised shingles on a single slope make for a small repair. When every slope took hits, a new roof may be the better option, and we'll tell you which applies.
Type of roofing
Finding an older tile profile or a shingle color that's no longer made takes more hunting, and sometimes more labor, than ordinary stock.
What's under the damage
When water has already slipped past a cracked tile or split shingle, the wet underlayment or soft decking needs replacing as well.
Vents, flashing and gutters
Swapping out dented vents, flashing and gutter pieces adds parts and hours on top of the roofing itself.

Questions About Hail Repairs

Something not covered here? (562) 568-5069

We hardly get hail. Could it still hurt my roof?

Yes, particularly older shingles that are already shedding granules. Small hailstones can bruise a worn shingle or crack tile that has turned brittle. A free inspection gives you a real answer instead of a guess.

Do I call you first or my insurer?

Lots of homeowners start with us to learn whether there's damage worth a claim. Our photo report gives you solid evidence to show the adjuster. Filing is always up to you.

Will the new tile match what's on my roof?

In many cases, yes. We check your tile's profile and color and find the nearest match. When an exact match can't be found, we go over the choices before removing any tile.

When will the repair be finished?

The repair work typically takes one day. How soon it starts depends on the adjuster's approval and when materials arrive. We set a date around both and call you if either changes.
